Wall Printing in Charlotte

Surface Ink prints custom artwork, murals and branded graphics directly onto interior walls across Charlotte and the surrounding area. The image goes onto the wall itself rather than onto a vinyl sheet applied afterwards, so the finished result reads as part of the room instead of something added to it.

What direct-to-wall printing actually is

A large-format printer works its way across the wall and lays ink straight onto the surface, following your artwork file. Because nothing is laminated or stuck on top, there is no seam down the middle of a large image, no edge to catch and lift, and none of the outline that gives applied graphics away. Up close it looks printed, not installed.

Where it works well

  • Feature and statement walls in offices
  • School murals, corridors and shared spaces
  • Restaurant and retail interiors
  • Church and community environments
  • Gyms, studios and training spaces
  • Children’s rooms, nurseries and play areas
  • Event and function venues
  • Home feature walls and custom artwork

What we can print on

The printer itself handles ceramics, wood, stone, metal, fabric, brick, glass, plaster, concrete, plastics, wallpaper, canvas, tile, sheet rock and stucco. Beyond that material list, suitability depends on the finish, the condition of the wall and the environment it sits in. Smooth, sound, clean interior walls are the most straightforward. Textured, heavily glossed, freshly painted or damaged surfaces need a proper look first.

Send photos before you commit to anything. If a wall is a poor candidate, it is far better to know that at the quoting stage than after the work is scheduled.

You do not need finished artwork

Come with a print-ready file if you have one. If you do not, a logo, a rough concept, a reference image or a description of what you are picturing is enough to start from. Surface Ink can help shape the direction so the final graphic suits the space and the goal behind it.

How a project starts

  1. Send photos of the wall, rough dimensions, the project location and a short description of what you want printed.
  2. We review the surface, the scope and the artwork direction.
  3. You get a quote based on what is actually there, not a guess.

The more detail you send at the start, the faster and more accurate the quote comes back.

Odor and disruption

The printing process produces very little to no noticeable odor. Any light scent present during printing dissipates quickly and does not linger in the space. The inks are made for interior environments, which is what makes the process workable in offices, schools, retail spaces and homes.

Wall printing or vinyl?

Vinyl has genuine uses, particularly where a graphic needs to come off again later. For permanent murals, branded interiors and feature walls, direct printing usually gives the cleaner and more premium result. Here is the honest comparison between the two.

The equipment

  • Resolution up to 2880 dpi. Fine enough for photographic detail and small text, not just flat blocks of color.
  • Five-color ink: CMYK plus white. The white channel means artwork keeps its full opacity on dark or strongly colored walls, instead of being washed out by whatever is underneath. Printers without a white channel are effectively limited to light surfaces.
  • Up to 10 feet high, unlimited width. A long mural is printed as one continuous piece rather than assembled from panels, which is where seams come from.
  • UV ink cures as it prints. There is no drying time to schedule around and nothing wet left behind at the end of the day.

What it costs

Pricing follows the artwork, not just the wall size:

  • Simple logos and graphics — $20–$25 per square foot
  • Standard murals and multi-color designs — $25–$30 per square foot
  • Photographic and complex artwork — $30–$35 per square foot

The project minimum is $500 — setup and calibration cost the same whether the surface is small or large. Travel is included across the Charlotte metro area; jobs further out carry a mobilization charge quoted up front. Send photos and rough dimensions for an exact number.
